OMA – Taipei Performing Arts Centre

Here are some of the latest visuals of the Performing Arts Centre proposed by Dutch firm OMA. The centre, set to open in 2015 , will supposedly result in engaging audiences in a new way, offering flexible performance spaces, a 60 metre ‘megastage’ and a space-agey spherical auditorium.

The building is designed to lure the public up and into its central cube and introduce you to one of its three threatres, or perhaps to the various practice performance spaces, technical spaces and backstage workings that are usually hidden from view in conventional arenas. The building itself showcases a unique view into the process of theatrical production inviting a broader public to engage with the performing arts.

{Insert pretentious Koolhaas quote here}: “The flexible configurations of the theatres allow unimagined scenarios, incessantly stimulating theatrical experiments.”
